# parent-corridor — Terms of Service (v1 DRAFT) **Status:** Pre-attorney-review structural draft per A5-tos-full-draft. **Version:** `tos-v1-20260420-draft` **Effective date:** TBD (target: Aug 15, 2026 pilot launch) > This draft reflects the 19 resolved research findings listed in > A5-tos-full-draft §"Evidence", plus the 2026-04-20 Kin-feature addenda > (§7a, §9b, §14). A CA attorney must finalize legal language before v1 ship. --- ## 1. Welcome & What We Are parent-corridor is a peer-coordination community for Sacramento-area families sending students to San José State University. We are NOT a rideshare service, a transportation network company, or a commercial ride platform. We are a community of verified parents coordinating travel for their kids using a karma-accounting system. By creating an account, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. You also agree to the Community Pledge (below). ## 2. Community Pledge We acknowledge together: - This is a non-commercial peer-coordination platform. - Karma has zero dollar value. - Trips are favors between families, not commercial rides. - No user should offer or accept money for a trip beyond reasonable gas reimbursement. - We are coordinators, not transportation providers. - We prioritize dignity, privacy, and safety over convenience. ## 3. Definitions **Verified Family**, **Sub-Circle**, **Kin**, **Karma**, **Community Pool**, **Trip**, **Match**, **Favor**, **Verification Layer**, **Emergency Mode**, **SEV tier**, **Scope Waterfall** — definitions attached as a glossary appendix; cross-referenced from product schema. ## 4. Eligibility & Account Creation - Must be 18+ (legal adult). - Must have a parental relationship to a CA-enrolled college student. - Must complete the verification stack per §5. - One family unit = one subscription; up to 2 adults + 4 students. - Signup is by verified-family invite only per A3-invite-chain-mechanics. There is no direct-signup path. - Accounts cannot be shared, sold, or transferred. ## 5. Verification (stack + badge scope) We verify each family using six layers (detailed in our Verification Policy): identity, background check, motor vehicle record, continuous MVR monitoring, child-abuse-and-neglect screening, and student-enrollment confirmation. We display a "verified" indicator only for families who have passed all six layers. The indicator confirms the checks completed at the timestamp shown; it guarantees no outcome. We re-run MVR continuously, and background + CANS annually. Any adverse finding may result in account suspension pending review. ## 6. Karma Accounting Karma is a community accounting unit used to track reciprocity. Karma is NOT currency and has zero dollar value externally. You acknowledge: - Karma cannot be exchanged for money. - Karma cannot be transferred to non-members. - Karma cannot be spent outside the Service. - Offering karma for external goods or services is material breach. - Karma is forfeited (not refunded) on account termination or subscription lapse. You may earn karma by completing verified peer-favor trips; spend it on peer-favor trips within the Service; donate karma to other verified families or to the community pool. You may not sell, barter, or trade karma for any external consideration. ## 7. Trip Posting, Matching & Completion - Matching uses non-protected attributes only (per A5-matching-duty). - Both parties actively confirm before match-locked. - Pre-trip waiver is required. - Platform is a coordinator, not a transport provider. - Trip-completion triggers karma transaction; review optional. ## 7a. Kin Groups (2026-04-20 addendum) Kin Groups ("Kins") are self-formed, member-admin-approved sub-groups of Parent Corridor families (~10-15 families target; hard cap 30). By creating, administering, or joining a Kin, you agree that: (i) Entry criteria, group naming, and group descriptions may not reference race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, marital status, familial status, age (other than platform minimum-rider-age policy), disability, medical condition, genetic information, citizenship, primary language, or immigration status. (ii) Parent Corridor enforces (i) at write-time via a protected-class naming lint; non-compliant names are blocked or routed for founder review. (iii) Parent Corridor may disband Kins whose name, criteria, or admin conduct facilitates discrimination on any protected characteristic. Disbandment preserves members' platform accounts and karma balances. (iv) Kin admin authority is limited to membership decisions within the Kin and to Kin-local norms (soft social conventions, not platform-enforced rules). (v) Platform verification is never inherited, vouched, bypassed, or waived. Every family completes the full A5-verification-stack-spec process regardless of invite source or Kin admin approval. An admin who represents otherwise violates this TOS. (vi) If a family's verification lapses, their trip-posting and trip-confirming capability is suspended across all Kins, sub-circles, and platform scopes regardless of Kin membership or admin status. ## 8. Comfort Preferences & Silent Filters Six contextual/behavioral preferences per A5-comfort-preferences-redesign. Silent-filter per UX-silent-filter (one-sided, not visible to other users). Preferences are suggestions; matches not guaranteed. ## 9. Emergency Mode (P1) Emergency mode may be triggered by rider or parent; relaxes karma-balance prerequisites; real-time location sharing activates; parent + sub-circle admin auto-notified. Does not suspend ledger integrity; debt resolves per runbook. Misuse is grounds for suspension or ban. ## 9b. Kin-admin discrimination report routing (2026-04-20 addendum) Reports alleging that a Kin admin has denied entry, removed a member, or gated entry-questions on a protected characteristic are SEV1 per the Adverse Event Runbook. These reports bypass both the sub-circle admin and the accused Kin admin and route directly to the Parent Corridor founder (or designee) for review. A Kin admin cannot dismiss or moderate reports concerning their own conduct. ## 10. Reports, Moderation & Dispute Resolution 4-tier severity model (SEV0-3) with response SLAs. Reports are private. 30-day appeal window. Decision log maintained. ## 11. Zero-Tolerance Policy No drugs or alcohol while driving. No unnecessary physical contact with riders. No phone use while driving. No discriminatory behavior. No off-platform monetary solicitation. ## 12. Subscription & Billing Introductory 6-month free period. $75/year after. $50/year founding-member discount on year-2 renewal for pilot cohort. 30-day grace period on payment failure. ## 13. Account Termination & Karma Forfeiture User may close account via Settings. Karma forfeited on closure or subscription lapse. KC may terminate for zero-tolerance violations, safety concerns, or material breach. 30-day data export window (CPRA). ## 14. Privacy, Scope & Platform-as-Filter Disclaimer See Privacy Policy. Scope waterfall (Kin → wider sub-circle → platform-wide) exists to respect family-chosen trust intimacy. Parent Corridor does not apply, enforce, verify, or warrant any criteria related to race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, family status, or other protected characteristics in Kin formation or trip matching. Auto-escalation of a trip from narrow scope to wider scope is a liquidity-preservation feature (per A2-concentric-scope-liquidity), not evidence of exclusionary intent. ## 15. Arbitration, Class Waiver, Opt-Out, Governing Law Binding individual arbitration before AAA Consumer Rules. Class-action waiver. McGill public-injunctive carve-out (CA Cal. Civ. Code §§ 1750 et seq., Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code §§ 17200 et seq.). Delegation clause. 30-day opt-out. Venue: San Francisco County, California. Governing law: California.
